Va. unemployment rate lowest since June 2008

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced April 15 that Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined by 0.1 percent in March and is now at 4.0 percent—the lowest rate since the June 2008 rate of 3.9 percent. Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remains below the national rate, which increased in March to 5.0 percent.

Administrative interns, a math teacher and an assistant principal have been appointed summer school principals for Prince William County Schools.

William Kennard now deputy, law judge for Workers’ Comp Commission in Manassas, Fairfax

Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission reports that William T. Kennard is now Deputy Commissioner at its regional office in Manassas. Kennard also will serve as an administrative law judge for evidentiary and on-the-record hearings under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act. He will hold hearing dockets in Fairfax and Manassas.

Keep Virginia Beautiful offering grants; apply by April 30

Winners will be announced each day in June for grant awards from $500 to $1,000 in these categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, Community Beautification and Cigarette Litter Prevention.
