PWC Police make arrest in connection with Jan. 9. 2025 shooting.
"The dry snow is a blessing," Larry Shaffer, NOVEC vice president of Electric Systems Operations was quoted as saying in a press release. "Wind is blowing snow off trees and branches, keeping most of them intact and off power lines. If we were getting wet snow and ice, we'd be dealing with a lot more outages."
Snow is expected to continue until midnight. Below are facts and figures about the storm in Virginia as of 1:45pm Saturday.
Due to inclement weather the Manassas Park community center will be closed Sunday, January 24th. All classes, programs, and rentals are cancelled, according to a news release. Watch for update about Monday.
From midnight Saturday through 10 a.m. Saturday, Virginia State Police have responded to 72 traffic crashes and 343 disabled vehicles statewide. There is only storm-related traffic death (City of Chesapeake) reported at this time.

One proposal would streamline income-based repayment programs; the other would allow employers to recruit and retain workers by helping to pay down student loans with pre-tax income.

City of Manassas declared a Snow Emergency effective at 8 a.m. on January 22 through January 24 at 6 p.m. This means that cars parked along designated snow emergency routes are subject to towing and fines.

Virginia State Police remind residents to avoid traveling on Virginia’s roads and highways today, Jan. 23. Winds have now picked up causing snow to drift and pile up across interstates and primary routes, which make driving even more dangerous, a news release said.
