This program will keep the hydrant accessible to DFR in case of fire and enables residents and/or businesses to adopt a fire hydrant close to their home or business and maintain the area around the hydrant––keeping it free of snow during the winter and free of weeds and shrubbery in the summer.

During a visit on December 21, to Beville Middle School, Governor-Elect Ralph Northam announced the appointment of Atif Qarni, a teacher at Beville, as the next Secretary of Education.
On October 6, 2017, the Trump administration issued Interim Final Rules (IFRs) that would allow any employer to deny contraception coverage to its employees. Attorney General Mark Herring and fellow state attorneys general filed suit in federal court challenging President Trump's move to roll back the contraception coverage mandate.
