Manassas Police investigate holiday burglaries in city

Manassas City Police Department issued a Dec. 21 report with the following incidents:

Burglary
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on December 20, 2017, officers from the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 9100 block of Battle St for a report of a burglary. The investigation revealed entry was made into the residence through a second story window.  A ladder belonging to the homeowner left in the backyard of the residence was used by the suspect to make entry into the second story window.  Firearms and ammunition were initially reported missing however; officers located those items on the ground in the backyard.  The investigation is ongoing.

Crime Prevention Tip:
• Secure ladders. If you keep ladders out, be sure to chain or padlock them. A ladder can be used to gain entry to second story windows. If at all possible, store the ladders in a shed or garage.
• Put tools away. Be sure to put any tools away after a day of yard work. Lock them in a shed or in an enclosed garage area. Tools like screwdrivers, hammers, and pry bars are not only expensive, but they could also be used against you by a burglar.

Burglary
At approximately 2:54 p.m. on December 19, 2017, officers responded to 9852 Business Way (Angel’s Bail Bonds) for a report of a burglary.  The investigation revealed forced entry was made through the front door of the business.  The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 7:00 p.m. on December 18 and 2:54 p.m. on December 19. Property belonging to the business was reported stolen.  The investigation is ongoing. 

Burglary
At 8:35 a.m. on December 19, 2017, officers from the Manassas City Police Department responded to 9293 Corporate Circle (Chase and Associates) for a report of a burglary. The investigation revealed forced entry was made through a side door to the business. No items were reported missing. The incident is believed to have occurred between 2:35 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on December 19. The investigation is ongoing.

Vandalism to Auto
At 7:42 a.m. on December 19, 2017, officers from the Manassas City Police Department responded to the area of Tudor Oaks Dr and DeBlanc Pl for a report of a vandalism. The victim told officers the driver’s side rear tire of his vehicle had been slashed. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on December 19.

Possession of Stolen Property **Arrest**
At 7:30 p.m. on December 18, 2017, officers of the Manassas City Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation on the 9300 block of Taney Rd. During the course of the stop, it was determined the license plates on the vehicle were reported stolen out of Prince William County. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested.

36-year-old resident of Manassas
Charges: Possession of stolen property
  Driving on a suspended license- 3rd or subsequent offense

Assault and Battery
At 6:42 p.m. on December 17, 2017, officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to 10100 Dumfries Rd (Giant Food) for a report of an assault. The victim, a loss prevention associate, told offers he attempted to stop a female shoplifting suspect outside of the store. During the encounter, the female assaulted the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries. The suspect, identified as Chelsy DAVIS, left the scene prior to officer arrival, and warrants are still active at this time, according to the police report.

25-year-old resident of Manassas
Charges: Assault and Battery
          Petit Larceny 3rd or subsequent offense
