Total solar eclipse expected in parts of USA on April 8

A total solar eclipse will cross the United States on April 8, 2024, in a path from Texas through Maine and passing through five national forests, according to Woodsy Owl of the US Forest Service. The previous two were in 1979 and 2017. After this year’s eclipse, we will not see another total solar eclipse in the United States for 20 years--in 2044.

March 4 bank robbery suspect flees without any money

Prince William County Police said the suspect in the March 5 bank robbery had one of his hands in a bag where part of what was believed to be a firearm was observed. The suspect fled the bank on foot without taking money. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

Electrical fire displaces four residents from Michigan Rd. house in Woodbridge

On Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 8:05PM,Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 2200 block of Scotch Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call.

Manassas man arrested and being held without bond on firearm charges

On February 9, 2024, at 7:50 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to the 8600 block of Bruton Parish Court for a 911 hang-up. Officers arrived on the scene where a group was located and immediately attempted to flee the area.

Townhouse fire in Dumfries ignited by burning candle

One adult occupant was at home and safely evacuated after discovering the fire. No injuries were reported. The structure sustained moderate damage. The American Red Cross assisted the 2 adults and 3 children displaced by Building Official’s determination the townhouse was unsafe to occupy. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was ignited by a burning candle near combustibles.
