According to Dominion Virginia Power, in 2015, scammers contacted nearly 2,800 Dominion Virginia Power customers, demanding fraudulent payments totaling more than $1.2 million. Hundreds of the power company's customers fell victim, paying nearly $200,000 in response to threats of immediate disconnection of electric service. Dominion tells how to avoid being a victim in 2016.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today, Nov. 7, the opening of a Business Recovery Center (BRC) in Virginia Beach City to help businesses impacted by Hurricane Matthew that began on Oct. 7, 2016. SBA representatives at the Business Recovery Center (BRC) in Virginia Beach City can provide information about disaster loans, answer questions and help businesses in completing the SBA application.

A man, 18, and a juvenile male, 16, have been charged in connection with two August burglaries in Woodbridge. The man was also charged with felony eluding, felony hit & run, misdemeanor hit & run, 2 counts of grand larceny, destruction of property, and driving on a revoked license in connection with two unoccupied vehicles left running.
