Cars stolen while running but unoccupied Nov. 2 lead to arrest in connection with August burglaries

Felony Hit & Run | Felony Eluding – On November 2 at 7:22AM, officers responded to the 14000 block of Cloverdale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a vehicle theft. The victim, a 41-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that her vehicle was stolen after it was left running and unoccupied outside of a business in the above area.

While searching surrounding neighborhoods, officers located the vehicle parked and unoccupied at the intersection of Birchdale Ave and Beaumont Rd. The vehicle sustained damage and it was determined that the vehicle had struck another unoccupied vehicle in the 14300 block of Bismark Ave before being abandoned.

While officers were investigating this incident, another victim, a 38-year-old woman of Woodbridge, contacted police and reported that her vehicle was stolen after also being left running and unoccupied in front of her residence located in the 14200 block of Birchdale Ave.

Later that afternoon, an officer attempted to stop the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Gideon Dr and Bixby Ct. The driver failed to stop for the officer and struck an occupied vehicle at the intersection before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

An officer chased the suspect to the area of Glory Ct and Charity Ct where the officer lost sight of him. With the assistance of a police K-9 and additional officers, the suspect was eventually located hiding under the deck of a residence on Charity Ct where he was taken into custody without further incident.
