Andrew Buchheit, principal at T. Clay Wood Elementary School since 2011, was officially named president-elect of the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals (VAESP) during the state conference last week. Buchheit will take the reins of president in 2019.

Northern Virginia Magazine has selected Hamish Brewer, principal of Fred Lynn Middle School, as a 2018 Northern Virginian of the Year. Brewer was recognized with this honor for the impact his hard work and dedication have made on his students, school, and community, according to a news release from Prince William County Schools.

U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced $2,774,825 in federal funding to support nursing education at George Mason University over the next four years. The funding will be used to recruit, admit, and retain students interested in pursuing nursing careers in Prince William and Fairfax Counties.
