Currently almost 50 percent of rural Virginians lack access to high speed internet and 29 percent don’t have any internet service at all. Rep. Rob Wittman, who represents part of Prince William County and Manassas, is trying to change that.

When you "Dump the Pump" and hop aboard OmniRide public transit this Thursday, June 21, you and a friend could win a free SmarTrip card or a Starbucks gift card! On June 21, OmniRide will join public transportation systems across the country in marking the 13th annual national Dump the Pump Day. On that day, people are encouraged to ride public transportation instead of driving a private vehicle.

“This bipartisan bill will make it easier for people to receive degrees that they’ve already paid for, worked towards, and earned,” said Sen. Mark Warner. “This bill will give schools one more tool to prepare degree seekers for the workforce – equipping them with credentials that would have otherwise been left on the table."

Principi announced June 14 that the 3rd Annual International Cultural Festival will be held at 7 p.m., on Thursday, June 21, at the Dr. AJ Ferlazzo Government Center Atrium in Woodbridge. Ali Krieger, a Prince William County native, and a 2016 Olympian and member of the 2015 Women's World Cup championship team, recently got the chance to visit home and cut the ribbon for the Ali Krieger Sports Complex, that sits on 29.7 acres adjacent to St. John Paul the Great High School in the Potomac Shores community in Dumfries, and includes seven rectangular, multi-purpose fields; a softball field; restrooms; a tot lot; and parking. "Out of every achievement in my career, I have to say this one means the most to me. Yes, even winning the World Cup, even being an Olympian, this definitely beats all of that and that's because it comes from my home town," said Krieger.

Prince William County Department of Parks & Recreation will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m., to officially open the Ali Krieger Sports Complex located at Potomac Shores, 2400 River Heritage Boulevard, Dumfries, VA, 22026.
