On March 3 at 12:39AM, Prince William County police officers responded to the area of Rippon Blvd. and Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed that while in a nearby parking lot the victim and the suspect were engaged in an argument that escalated. During the encounter, a firearm was brandished and the victim was shot. The suspect fled the area on foot while uninvolved residents aided the victim.

Scientists at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville have discovered a defect in immune cells known as “killer T cells” that explains their inability to destroy cancer tumors. The finding could be a significant boost to the burgeoning field of immunotherapy, which aims to harness the body’s immune defenses to defeat cancer, a UVASM news release said.

Prince William Democrats will choose their candidate for the Neabsco District supervisor's seat at a Firehouse Primary this Sunday, Feb. 24. Primary voting will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department - Station 13, 13511 Hillendale Dr, Dale City, VA 22193. All registered voters willing to sign a Democratic loyalty pledge will be eligible to participate. The Committee will hold a Meet and Greet/Candidates Forum on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the same location from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
