Governor signs bills intended to strengthen and stabilize foster care system

Governor Ralph Northam today, March 27, ceremonially signed legislation to improve Virginia’s foster care system. Joined by a bipartisan group of legislators, government officials, and leaders from the business and faith communities, Governor Northam also helped kick off Virginia Fosters, a statewide campaign that empowers Virginians to be the solution for children, families, and workers in the Commonwealth’s child welfare system.

Traffic counting to begin in Occoquan area

Starting April 1, a VDOT contractor will begin a traffic counting project in the Occoquan area, according to Earnie Porta, mayor of Occoquan.

Some 627,000 Virginians will get back their licenses to drive after Gov. Northam March 26 amended legislation to eliminate the practice of suspending driving privileges for nonpayment of court fines and costs.

Annually, Woodbridge hosts an alumni event to add the newest images to the wall. This year the school honored one of its former principals and the theatre program.

What Neabsco District voters should know about special election for supervisor on April 9

There will be a special election, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors Neabsco District seat. The winner will fill the seat held by former Supervisor John Jenkins, who died on Feb. 6. Democrat Victor S. Angry and Republican Devinder Singh are running to replace Jenkins. The chosen candidate will serve out the remainder of the current term, which ends Dec. 31 of this year.
