Prince William County Planning Commission will hold a work session on March 1, 2017 at 6 p.m. in the Potomac Conference Room of the McCoart Government Center at 1 County Complex Ct., Woodbridge, VA. 22192. The work session will cover: Proposed Capital Improvemenbt Program Presentations, among six agenda items.

Shortly after midnight on Feb. 24, 2017, an adult male was sitting in his vehicle parked in the area of Burnside Rd and Ashton Ave when he was shot by an unknown person. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was treated at a local hospital.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On February 18 at 5:45PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 14900 block of Deepwood Ln in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a crash involving an ATV.

Three automotive students at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College each received a $1,000 scholarship from Volkswagen Group of America. The scholarships were awarded based on essays the students wrote about how the scholarship would benefit them as well as a recommendation from the automotive faculty.

The Feb. 23 meeting of the Lake Ridge Occoquan Communities Civic Association (LOCCA) has been cancelled, according to Tom Burrell. Those projects scheduled for discussion at the Feb. 23 LOCCA meeting will be deferred to the group's March 23 meeting or, if need be, to a special meeting, Burrell added.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On February 18 at 1:38AM, investigators from the Prince William County Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Mapledale Ave and Meadowbrook Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a crash involving two motorcycles.

Homicide Investigation – On February 17 at 6:22PM, Prince William County police officers responded to a residence located in the 7300 block of Forrester Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male and an adult female suffering from stab wounds to the body. The female victim was pronounced dead on scene.

Friends of Rural Crescent Energized (FORCE) will hold an informational update meeting on the proposed mosque at the corner of Schaeffer Lane and Vint Hill Road in Nokesville. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department on Marsteller Drive.

On February 17, hundreds of Kilby students and their teachers walked - grade by grade - about 30 yards into their new state-of-art Kilby Elementary School.
