Beginning Friday, Feb. 10, pile driving will occur along Route 1 for construction of the new bridge over Marumsco Creek just north of Marys Way for approximately two weeks, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

On February 6, 2017, the Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identification of the human remains found on February 4 in the 1100 block of Marseille Ln in Woodbridge as Alan Cohee.

The “Alternative Education” School Naming Committee will hold a community input session to receive name suggestions for the “Alternative Education” School, also known as “Non-Traditional School,” currently under construction at 14550 Aden Road, in Manassas. Ashley Dimino, a junior at Brentsville District High School, is the grand prize winner in the 2017 Youth Art Month flag design competition. Ashley’s design will be on display during March at the National Art Education Association Convention in New York City.

Due to the possible inclement weather predicted for, Saturday, January 14, Prince William County Human Rights Commission has decided to postpone its celebration of Universal Human Rights Day. On January 31 at 6:06PM, investigators from the Prince William County Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Rippon Blvd near Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.

Prince William Public Works Department, Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition, and Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District are teaming up to clean up a portion of Powell's Creek near Riverwoods at Woodbridge Apartments Feb. 25, and they are inviting the public to help. The event starts at 9 a.m.

On January 31, detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau received a tip from Crime Solvers which lead to the arrest of Mohammad Ekram SHERDIL by members of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and NYPD detectives in New York. The accused was wanted for a shooting which occurred in the 3500 block of Forestdale Ave in Woodbridge on December 9. The accused remains in custody in New York pending extradition back to Virginia.
