Pile driving on US 1 in Woodbridge starts Friday, Feb. 10, weather permitting

Beginning Friday, Feb. 10, pile driving will occur along Route 1 for construction of the new bridge over Marumsco Creek just north of Marys Way for approximately two weeks, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Brentsville junior takes grand prize in flag design contest

Ashley Dimino, a junior at Brentsville District High School, is the grand prize winner in the 2017 Youth Art Month flag design competition. Ashley’s design will be on display during March at the National Art Education Association Convention in New York City.

Prince William County’s Jan. 14 Human Rights celebration postponed to Feb. 9

Due to the possible inclement weather predicted for, Saturday, January 14, Prince William County Human Rights Commission has decided to postpone its celebration of Universal Human Rights Day. The celebration will be held on Thursday, February 9, at 7 p.m. in the Board Chamber of the McCoart building.

Suspect in Dec. 9 shooting in Woodbridge arrested in New York

On January 31, detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau received a tip from Crime Solvers which lead to the arrest of Mohammad Ekram SHERDIL by members of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and NYPD detectives in New York. The accused was wanted for a shooting which occurred in the 3500 block of Forestdale Ave in Woodbridge on December 9. The accused remains in custody in New York pending extradition back to Virginia.
