Prince William County Public School students beat the pass rates of counterparts statewide on the latest Standards of Learning assessments in almost all subject areas, and across most demographic groups, according to initial results released Aug. 11 by the Virginia Department of Education.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently amended the County Code to increase the amount people are charged for having their cars towed after parking illegally. The amendment allows the rate for towing vehicles weighing less than 10,001 to go from $125 to $135. The rate to tow vehicles weighing between 10,001 and 26,000 pounds has gone from $175 to $250, and the rate to tow vehicles weighing more than 26,000 pounds has increased from $300 to $475.

F2B is an interactive, mobile literacy program that has been proven to increase academy vocabulary, comprehension and critical thinking skills in young children.

Prince William County Animal Shelter now has its highest volume of cats of the year. Cats and kittens have been surrendered by owners who are moving, travelling, or have developed allergies. This means the cat cages at the Shelter are overflowing by one-third above capacity!
U.S. Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) Aug. 6 marked the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act by renewing their call for the Senate to take up legislation that would restore and advance voting protections for all Americans.
