AgrAbility helps farmers with disabilities continue to work. A Dinwiddie County farmer is the second person in Virginia to receive help from AgrAbility Virginia, one of 24 state-level affiliates of the National AgrAbility Project. Here is his story.
Virginia Department of Corrections has worked with its offender phone service provider, Global Tel*Link (GTL), to lower phone rates drastically over the last five years. Offenders will now pay about $0.04 per minute with an average call costing $0.69.
Habitat for Humanity Prince William County is closing its current location at 9506 Center Street, Manassas on December 31. On Jan. 23 it will reopen in the former Food Lion space at 10159 Hastings Drive, at the corner of Hastings Drive and Dumfries Road near the Fairgrounds. In preparation for the opening, Habitat is holding a “Stock the ReStore” donation drive.

Virginia State Police is partnering with the state police, highway patrols and local law enforcement of every state along the East Coast containing a portion of Interstate 95 in an effort to keep one of the nation’s major interstate corridors safe and fatality-free.
Saturday trash and recycling collection services held at the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad station will continue through February 27, 2016 due to the cooperation of the volunteer fire company, according to a Dec. 23 news release from Prince William County Solid Waste Division. Previously it was announced that Dec. 26 would be the final day.

After months of research and evaluation, including extensive outreach to the states whose permits Virginia currently recognizes, Virginia is revoking concealed handgun permit recognition with 25 states effective February 1, 2016.
