Many OmniRide bus routes being adjusted; service changes begin on Monday, Jan. 30

OmniRide’s Service Changes will take effect on Monday, Jan 30. Schedules for Express, Metro Express, and Local routes will change on that date. OmniRide Connect microtransit pilot program is now operating in Manassas Park. It replaces the OmniRide Local Manassas Park route. Some routes are now operating from the new Balls Ford Road Commuter Lot in Manassas.

Va. State vet okays entry permit for S. Claus and nine reindeer

Dr. Charlie Broaddus, State Veterinarian with Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR), has issued a permit to Nicolas “Santa” Claus, of the North Pole, to bring his herd of “eight tiny reindeer” and one additional rare, red-nosed reindeer into Virginia on the evening of Dec. 24.

VDOT issues overview of road conditions expected over Christmas holiday

Crews across the district will begin pretreating roads overnight Tuesday through overnight Wednesday and will begin deploying trucks early Thursday morning to treat roads as needed. VDOT asks motorists to please monitor forecasts closely as forecasts can improve or worsen quickly. The National Weather Service forecast shows winter weather will impact the region from overnight Wednesday through Friday. The forecast shows the potential for periods of freezing rain and sleet, as well as below-freezing temperatures, heavy rain, and high winds. 

Candland secures funding for pedestrian bridge across US 15

I’m extremely proud and happy to announce that I’ve been able to secure the funding for a pedestrian bridge across Route 15 at the intersection of Graduation Drive. Project approval expected on Dec. 13.

Pedestrian dies from injuries from Oct. 5 crash on Sudley Manor Drive

The investigation revealed the driver of a 2021 GMC Arcadia was traveling northbound on Sudley Manor Dr, just past Chatsworth Dr, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was wearing dark clothing and walking within the middle of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the crash and contacted police and rescue personnel.
