Virginia's U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine have announced $13,240,212 in federal funding for Virginia airports to make infrastructure improvements. Projects include improving taxiway lighting, extending runways and rehabilitating aprons.

Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB), a non-profit environmental organization that serves Prince William County, has unveiled its first KPWB Bus Shelter Beautification project in Dale City. The project will use public space art combined with a litter removal program.

DroneUp, LLC, a leading drone flight services innovator and aviation technology provider, will invest $27.2 million to expand its headquarters in the City of Virginia Beach and establish a testing, training, and R&D center at Richard Bland College in Dinwiddie County.

Mill Street Pedestrian Improvements, near the Occoquan Town Hall, are now making it easier to walk around the Prince William County town. “The improvements … are pretty dramatic,” Occoquan Mayor Earnest W. Porta Jr. said.

PW County Police said their investigation revealed that the operator of a 2013 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster motorcycle was traveling southbound on Joplin Rd. with a group of other riders. As the motorcycle approached the above area, the operator failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the roadway and traveled over the double yellow lines before leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

Haymarket's Mill Creek Road (Route 630) between Waterfall Road (Rt. 601) and Berkeley Drive (Rt. 2010) will be closed to through traffic, weather permitting, from 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 to replace culvert pipes, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) is seeking public comment on the area's long-range transportation plan, known as TransAction. Goals are to enhance mobility, increase accessibility and improve resiliency by planning for an equitable, sustainable and safe multimodal transportation network. Proposed are 429 projects totaling $75+ billion.
