Motorcyclist dies after hitting tree on Joplin Rd.

PW County Police said their investigation revealed that the operator of a 2013 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster motorcycle was traveling southbound on Joplin Rd. with a group of other riders. As the motorcycle approached the above area, the operator failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the roadway and traveled over the double yellow lines before leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

Mill Creek Rd. in Haymarket closed Aug. 15-17

Haymarket's Mill Creek Road (Route 630) between Waterfall Road (Rt. 601) and Berkeley Drive (Rt. 2010) will be closed to through traffic, weather permitting, from 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 to replace culvert pipes, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Public comment wanted by Sept. 6 on N. Va. long-range transportation plan

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) is seeking public comment on the area's long-range transportation plan, known as TransAction. Goals are to enhance mobility, increase accessibility and improve resiliency by planning for an equitable, sustainable and safe multimodal transportation network. Proposed are 429 projects totaling $75+ billion.
