PWC Police make arrest in connection with Jan. 9. 2025 shooting.
Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC), the local bus company, will again participate in Try Transit Week and Car Free Day – two events that encourage people to find alternatives to driving solo. The seventh annual Try Transit Week will be Sept. 21-25. The educational event is designed to reduce the use of single-occupancy vehicles in favor of buses, trains, vanpools and ferries.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, local Boy Scouts, Prince William County Solid Waste Division and Keep Prince William Beautiful will celebrate the grand opening of a second American Flag Collection Center in Prince William County. The Balls Ford Road Yard Waste Compost Facility, 13000 Balls Ford Road, Manassas, flag collection service will be joining the service at the county landfill for citizens and businesses to retire American flags with respect.
Nokesville Business Association meeting will be on September 23rd instead of the 16th due to a scheduling problem. The meeting will be at 8:30 at the Chuckwagon Restaurant. The Capital Area Food Bank has made public its proprietary Hunger Heat Map. Those who use the map can zero-in on the food insecurity data that pertains to the neighborhood they live in, giving a clear picture of what hunger looks like in local communities. The CAFB used the Hunger Heat Map to zero in on a Prince William County location to launch its first mobile feeding bus, which provided free, healthy lunches to about 300 children per weekday during the summer months.
Experts in small business development will share best practices, and provide participants with key resources to move forward with their vision at an all-day workshop on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). The annual event is sponsored by a local service sorority and its foundation.
The community is invited to hear business and education views of the candidates for chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. The debate is sponsored by Northern Virginia Community College and Prince William Chamber of Commerce. It will be in Howsman Hall on NOVA's Manassas campus.
Prince William County Public School officials will break ground this month for the construction of two elementary schools in Woodbridge.
