DOC aims to test all inmates for Covid-19

Virginia Department of Corrections says it is aggressively testing incarcerated offenders for COVID-19. While the nationwide struggle to adequately test for the coronavirus continues, the Virginia DOC has already tested more than one-third of the state’s approximately 29,000 offenders. Most offenders being tested have no symptoms; the DOC is conducting point prevalence testing to catch cases before there are any symptoms.

Indian dancers performed at Glenkirk

More than 300 people attended the Nadanalaalya Dance School’s third annual performance at Glenkirk Elementary School, featuring classical and traditional Indian costumes and choreography. The event was coordinated by Beverly Byer, Glenkirk Elementary teacher, and directed by Vasunthra Saravanapavan, dance school founder and teacher.

A private burial service was held at the Gainesville Methodist Cemetery on Friday May 8, 2020 for Elizabeth Crouch McCuin, 78, of Gainesville, Va., who died at home surrounded by her loving family on May 5, 2020. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at a later date once it is deemed safe to gather in large groups.
