Government shutdown wreaking havoc with Metro finances and safety

Following inquiries by Virginia and Maryland’s Senators, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) disclosed today, Jan.17, that it is losing, on average, $400,000 each weekday during the government shutdown. In response, the Senators issued the following statement:

This horse farm will be open Saturday only; it will reveal the work Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District specialists completed with Edith Kennedy, owner, and other partners. The Gainesville farm is open Sept. 24 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Deanna Schaeffer, who served as a school librarian in Prince William County Public Schools for 22 years, passed away on Dec. 16, 2018. She was 81.

Archie E. Schiff, 107, of Manassas, VA and formerly of Pottsville, PA, died Dec. 7, 2018. He was especially proud of the years he spent playing minor league baseball for the Pottsville team and sharing stories of all of the changes he had witnessed in his 107 years.
