The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg will host a debate for the three candidates in the 1st Congressional District of Virginia race on Monday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in George Washington Hall’s Dodd Auditorium. 80 storage units damaged or destroyed in three-alarm fire on Sudley Road

Prince William County VA Fire Marshal’s Office investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of an Oct. 14 fire that heavily damaged or destroyed about 80 storage units and brought in firefighting units from Fauquier, Loudoun and Fairfax counties to supplement Prince William County's firefighting force. No one was injured and no fire loss estimate is yet available.

A funeral service was held July 7, 2018 at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas for Pauline Wampler Shortridge, 88, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Manassas, Va. The widow of Ervine Cecil Shortridge, she passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, after a brief illness at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, Del.
