Five people lose home; two dogs revived, three die in Manassas Park house fire Jan. 12

Manassas Park Fire Chief David O. Dixon reports that firefighters located and removed five unresponsive dogs when they searched for occupants in a burning house in Manassas Park Thursday afternoon. Firefighters and paramedics provided lifesaving treatment to all five unresponsive animals. Two were revived and transported to a local emergency veterinary clinic by Manassas Park Police animal control.

NOVEC and VMD Cooperatives Association now accepting scholarship applications

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative and Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives are accepting applications for higher-education scholarships from high school and home school seniors who receive electricity from electric cooperatives. Applications for NOVEC's scholarships are due by the close of business on March 13, 2017, and the VMDAEC applications are due Feb. 10, 2017.
