Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) is this year's recipient of the prestigious Eagle Award, the top tech award presented annually to one leader in government IT. Connolly is just the second Member of Congress to ever receive the award given annually by Federal Computer Week (FCW).
Virginia American Water said March 30 that hydrant flushing is scheduled to begin in its Prince William system from Monday, April 6, through early May. The routine work is being done as part of the company’s annual pipeline flushing program to improve water service by flushing out mineral deposits and sediment from water mains.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) recently launched an online directory of permitted bingo games played in the Commonwealth. Listed by locality, more than 400 regular games are available across the state. The directory will be updated monthly and can be found on VDACS’ website at

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile customer service centers, called DMV 2 Go, will be traveling across the state in April to serve customers and will be at three locations in the Prince William County area--Woodbridge on April 1, Manassas Park on April 7 and Manassas on April 20.

Governor Terry McAuliffe March 24 announced the protection of 65 acres of Civil War battlefield in Williamsburg. The land is being donated by Anheuser-Busch to the Civil War Trust, a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving America’s battlegrounds. The property played a pivotal role in the 1862 Battle of Williamsburg, the first pitched battle of the Peninsula Campaign.
