Shortly after midnight on Feb. 24, 2017, an adult male was sitting in his vehicle parked in the area of Burnside Rd and Ashton Ave when he was shot by an unknown person. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was treated at a local hospital.

Murder Investigation *ADDITIONAL ARREST – On February 23, detectives from the Prince William County Police Department's Homicide Unit obtained a murder warrant for a sixth suspect sought in connection to the murder of Christian Alexander SOSA RIVAS, according to Sgt. Jonathan Perok, police department spokesman. the body of Sosas Rivas, a resident of Fairfax, was found along the edge of the Potomac River in the Dumfries section of Prince William County on Jan. 12, 2017.

ALE CITY – The two right lanes of northbound and southbound I-95 between Cardinal Drive and the Dale City cars-only rest area will be closed the night of Tuesday, Feb. 28 between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. for inspection of the bridges over Neabsco Creek, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Del. Eileen Filler-Corn’s bill to allow women to obtain a year’s supply of birth control pills at one time, passed the House on February 7th, cleared the Senate Feb. 16 and will be sent to the Governor’s desk. HB 2267 will require health insurance plans that cover contraceptives to allow women to purchase a year’s supply of birth control pills at one time.
