Alert homeowner calls police, scares off would-be intruder in Gainesville before daybreak

Sexual Assault Investigation – On February 15, detectives with the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which occurred in the 13200 block of Occoquan Rd in Woodbridge (22191) on February 14 around 6:00PM. The victim, a 12-year-old girl of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance. The incident was not reported to police till February 15 at 1:00PM. Attempts to identify the acquaintance have been unsuccessful. The investigation continues.
Suspect Description:
Hispanic male, approximately 20 years of age, 5’11”, 200lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair
Last seen wearing black pants, black jacket with blue stripes, and a black hat

Residential Burglary – On February 23 at 7:59PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 1300 block of East Longview Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:00AM and 3:00PM. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the home through a window which was found open and the screen cut. Jewelry and money were reported missing.

Residential Burglary – On February 23 at 5:42AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5600 block of Lick River Ln in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a burglary in progress. The homeowner reported to police that he was awakened by the sound of a rear door alarm activation alarm. When the homeowner went downstairs to investigate, a door could be heard closing. A short time later, the homeowner saw an unknown man breaking into a vehicle parked in a neighbor’s driveway. When the homeowner challenged the suspect, he fled the area on foot. No entry was made into the residence and no property was reported missing. No suspect description was provided.

Attempted Commercial Burglary – On February 23 at 10:36AM, officers responded to the Chili’s located at 4995 Wellington Rd in Gainesville (22026) to investigate a burglary. A manager reported to police that sometime between 10:00PM on February 11 and 7:00AM on February 12, it appears someone attempted entry into the restaurant through a side door which was found damaged. No entry was made and no property was reported missing.
