Members of the VFW Post 7589 in Manassas will conduct a Memorial Day service at 8:30 a.m. May 26 followed by placing American flags on the graves of veterans at Manassas Cemetery.

Sally Adams, program coordinator for the United Methodist Women at Old Bridge UMC said she first became aware of local human trafficking issues while attending an event sponsored by the Soroptomists. "People think it just happens in Cambodia," Adams said. "But it happens here and we can't turn the other way."

Since 2000, Joe McGill Jr. has been traveling across the country sleeping in and interpreting original slave quarters to raise awareness of the enslaved population who lived in them. He will be coming to two slave quarters in Manassas VA May 15-17.

Five males from Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County were charged with a total of 94 felonies and held without bond following arrests on May 9, 2014 after a lengthy investigation by three local police departments in collaboration with Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force.
