PWC Housing Office wants community comments May 15 on five-year plan

Prince William County Office of Housing and Community Development wants to know how people think federal money should be spent over the next five years. To find the answers, the office will hold two meetings on May 15.

One meeting will be held at the Manassas City Hall, at 9027 Center St. in Manassas, at 10 a.m. in the second floor conference room.

The second meeting will be held at the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building, at 15941 Donald Curtis Drive, Woodbridge at 5:30 p.m. in the Leesylvania Conference Room.

A requirement for taking federal entitlement funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is that the county, Manassas and Manassas Park must seek public input on the development of a Five-Year Consolidated Plan, a news release said.

The plan is intended to identify housing and community development problems, to find solutions to those problems and to prioritize how the funding should be spent over the next five years.

The plan is a collaborative process to establish a unified vision to address homelessness, community and economic development needs and issues to serve low- and moderate-income households, according to Bill Lake, chief of Prince William County government’s Community Planning and Development Division/

Those who are interested may provide input by attending one of the two meetings, going to the division’s website or by calling 703-492-2300.
