Overturned fuel tanker truck on I-64 westbound in Louisa County leaking fuel

Virginia State Police were still on scene at 8:30 a.m. with an overturned fuel-carrying tractor trailer on I-64 westbound just west of the 147 mile marker in Louisa County. The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m., according to VSP Sgt. Stephan Vick. UPDATE: at 9:36 a.m. - All westbound lanes continue to remain closed and will be for a couple of more hours while cleanup continues.

Secretary of Defense and Veterans Affairs leaving state government for private industry

Admiral John C. Harvey Jr., who opened the new Virginia Office in Veterans Affairs in Manassas in July is leaving Virginia government for the Institute for Defense Analyses as the Director of Strategy, Forces and Resources Division. Gov. Terry McAuliffe praised his "leadership in making Virginia the first state in the nation to functionally end veteran homelessness."

Registration begins Aug. 28 for high school classes at night; see your counselor for details

Registration for night school classes will begin Aug. 28 at each Prince William County high school. Students interested in registering should contact their counseling office. Session One classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday nights, Sept. 11–Jan. 17, at Hylton High School from 5–8:30 p.m.

Nuttall Oak Place fire incident in Dumfries

On Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 at 9:53 a.m., Prince William County fire and rescue units were dispatched to a townhouse fire located in the 16800 block of Nuttall Oak Place in Dumfries. Upon arrival, fire and rescue crews observed fire on the third floor balcony of the townhome.

VDOT to close I-95 ramp to Dale City Friday, Aug. 4 at 10 p.m.

A portion of the ramp from southbound I-95 to Dale Blvd (Route 784) will be closed between 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 and 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 to pave the realigned ramp, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
