Democrats post nomination process for 2016 Manassas & Manassas Park mayor, council elections

Manassas and Manassas Park Cities Democratic Committee (MMPCDC) has scheduled assembled caucuses to nominate Democratic candidates for Manassas and Manassas Park races in the Nov. 8, 2016 General Election. The caucuses are May 6 in Manassas and May 8 in Manassas Park. Candidates must file paperwork and pay fee with the MMPCDC by May 27 by 5 p.m.

PWC Police identify five suspects in connection with April 17 shooting; three are in custody

On May 10, Prince William County Police Department detectives from the Gang and Robbery Units identified two additional suspects involved in the shooting which occurred in the 4900 block of Kirwyn Ct in Woodbridge on April 17. During that incident, a 12 year old boy was shot.

PW Police investigate man who identified himself as police officer

Impersonating a Police Officer – On May 10 at 5:20PM, officers responded to Potomac Mills Mall located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a suspicious person.

Novant Health changes names of local facilities

On May 1, the Novant Health UVA Health System facilities officially changed names. The name change affects Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center, Novant Health Prince William Medical Center, Novant Health Caton Merchant House, Novant Health Cancer Center and UVA Culpeper Hospital.

VDOT to close Compton Road May 10-11

Virginia Department of Transportation will close Compton Road (Route 658) to through traffic between Old Centreville Road and Mount Olive Road (Route 859) Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 11 to allow crews to replace a pipe. The closures will occur from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Ryan Ferrera is new principal for Battlefield High School in Haymarket

Ryan Ferrera, previously a social studies teacher at Battlefield High School who moved on to become an assistant principal, has been appointed principal of Battlefeld High School in Haymarket. He will replace Principal Amy Ethridge-Conti who is retiring.
