Making Math Relevant: Hanover math teacher chosen 2025 Virginia Regional Teacher of the Year

“Mrs. Yamamoto challenges every one of her students to not just learn the rigorous math concepts in her classroom, but she also makes the math relevant and applies every lesson to real life,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Lisa Coons. She strived to make math come alive for students and share how it applies to real-life situations. She was also determined to show students that math is not scary and help them believe that they are “math people.”

PWC redistricting plan approved

Prince William County's redistricting map, designed to more evenly divide voters in the county was approved by the U.S. Department of Justice. The county registrar will be sending out information on voting places and districts in the near future.

You may not even bother getting dressed or putting on makeup or shaving. Others who have to drive to work may be lucky to live close by or they have timed their departure and picked the best route to make it easier. Margaret Mitchell McLeod Price, a teacher at Stonewall Middle School (now Unity Braxton) in Manassas for 26 years until her retirement in 1999, died Jan. 26, 2024. She was an avid traveler and had visited 49 states and numerous foreign countries.
