A fundraiser at Battlefield High School was held May 7 to raise funds for a new Gainesville library. Thousands of Legos were available for those who wanted to build something cool. Many youngsters came out to enjoy the day. They could bounce in the moonbounce, check out the many vendors, buy some used books or bid on more than 70 silent-auction items.

Stewart Rae Gough, 43, formerly of Gainesville, VA, passed away on October 28, 2023, at Halifax Health Center in Daytona Beach,FL. He was born on December 17, 1979, in Alexandria, VA.
Governor Glenn Youngkin ordered that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of the 16th Anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting. Some 32 people were killed in this incident.
Pat Conroy, who served four consecutive two-year terms as mayor of Occoquan, from July 1998 through June 2006, recently passed away in Florida.
