PWC Police make arrest in connection with Jan. 9. 2025 shooting.
Karen Parkinson, coordinator of information for Fauquier County Public Schools, has received an Award of Merit for her writing from National School Public Relations Association. She received the award for a news release entitled “The Turn-About Teacher,” which detailed the transformation of Auburn Middle School teacher Ryan Wicka from troubled teen to successful educator.

Some 604 acres of the 900-acre Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship land preserve, donated by the Robert and Dee Leggett Foundation to the Old Dominion Land Conservancy, were acquired June 14 by Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The plan is to use the acreage located in western Loudoun County for a new Virginia State Park.
The Blue Crab population in the Chesapeake Bay continues to grow but still below target levels, according to a report issued by developed by the Chesapeake Bay Stock Assessment Committee (CBSAC).
Cullipher Farm in Virginia Beach has harvested its first sweet corn of the year to sell at the farm’s stand in Pungo. Kim Cullipher said her family has 35 acres planted in sweet corn this year. “We usually alternate bicolor with white sweet corn, and right now the bicolor is available. It’s usually the first to come in,” she was quoted as saying in a press release from the VIrginia Farm Bureau Federation.
“Farmers use a variety of tools to keep cows cool in the summer months,” explained Lindsay Reames, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation assistant director of governmental relations. “They have large fans to circulate air in the barns, and some have sprinkler systems to mist the animals and cool them off.

Researchers divided tomatoes into three groups. They refrigerated one group and kept a second one at room temperature. They dipped tomatoes in a third group in 122-degree water for five minutes to stimulate blanching, a process that makes tomatoes easier to peel.
