The School Board of the City of Manassas unanimously voted on Jan. 4, 2017 to appoint Peter B. O’Hanlon to serve as its newest member. O’Hanlon was appointed to fill the vacant seat previously held by Pamela J. Sebesky, who resigned effective Dec. 31 after being elected in November to a four-year term on the Manassas City Council.

Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue in conjunction with Prince William County area Home Depot stores is soliciting community assistance during its Adopt-A-Hydrant program. This program will enable residents and/or businesses to adopt a fire hydrant close to their home or business–maintaining the area around the hydrant by keeping it free of snow during the winter and free of weeds and shrubbery in the summer.
Del. Marshall reports that his HB 1612, to protect personal privacy in showers, locker rooms, changing areas and bathrooms in our schools and government buildings, was killed on a voice vote Jan. 20 in Subcommittee #4 of the General Laws Committee.
Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium (VNEC) testified Jan. 19 in support of legislation under consideration in the Virginia House of Delegates that would explicitly allow investor-owned utilities to recover costs associated with relicensing and extending the life of nuclear facilities.

All are making their way through the committee process and it has shaped up to be a busy session. I’m typically at my desk by 7am and leave Capitol Square after midnight…but it’s fascinating work and a privilege to be your delegate in Richmond!
