USDA to survey Virginia farmers’ planting intentions for 2017

U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will conduct its March Agricultural Survey on more than 1,600 farmers in Virginia to determine their plans for the upcoming growing season. The survey will ask producers to provide information about the types of crops they intend to plant in 2017, how many acres they intend to plant, and the amounts of grain and oilseed they store on their farms.

Volkswagen Group of America awards scholarships to NOVA-Manassas automotive students

Three automotive students at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College each received a $1,000 scholarship from Volkswagen Group of America. The scholarships were awarded based on essays the students wrote about how the scholarship would benefit them as well as a recommendation from the automotive faculty.

LOCCA’s Feb. 23 meeting cancelled out of respect for Michele McQuigg

The Feb. 23 meeting of the Lake Ridge Occoquan Communities Civic Association (LOCCA) has been cancelled, according to Tom Burrell. Woman pronounced dead at scene of stabbing on Forrester Lane in Manassas, county police report

Homicide Investigation – On February 17 at 6:22PM, Prince William County police officers responded to a residence located in the 7300 block of Forrester Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male and an adult female suffering from stab wounds to the body. The female victim was pronounced dead on scene.
