Prince William County Human Rights Commission now is accepting nominations for its Annual Human Rights Awards. Individuals, nonprofit organizations or businesses may be nominated for outstanding accomplishments in the area of human rights in Prince William County. The deadline for submitting nominations is Nov. 23, 2015.
An automobile accident occurred this morning, Oct. 27, on Mathis Avenue in front of Parkside Middle School in Manassas, according to a report from Prince William County Schools. A medivac helicopter landed on the football field at Parkside in order to transport the victim to the hospital. There was no connection to the school, the PWCS report stated.
Virginia Railway Express (VRE) will commence VRE commuter rail service from the new Spotsylvania Station on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015. VRE built the new station and platform while Spotsylvania County built the 1,500-space parking lot for commuters. Spotsylvania County and VRE will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. that morning.
Home security, senior home care, telephones for the hearing impaired, real estate, and transition services available to seniors in Prince William County will be among the topics covered in a free three-hour seminar on Saturday, Nov. 14 presented by Long & Foster Real Estate's Carol DeZorzi from 1 to 4 p.m. at Home Instead Senior Care, 9817 Godwin Drive, Manassas.
On October 26th, the Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsies on the two juveniles who were found deceased in the 4400 block of Hamilton Dr in Woodbridge VA on October 24th.

“Spirits, Shadows and Sounds” will be on display in the Colgan Hall gallery through Nov. 4. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
Prince William Board of County Supervisors will hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 to discuss the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) selecting the Cedars Farm, located at 6115 Antioch Road in Haymarket, as part of the preferred alternative for the I-66 Outside the Beltway project.
