The Town of Occoquan recently received a new historical marker, situated at the base of the Nathaniel Ellicott footbridge and the town’s River Mill Park. This new marker details the history of the Ballendine Ironworks and the Janney Cotton Mill.

Woodbridge High School has a long history and thousands of alumni. To honor both, the school created an Alumni and History Wall to represent students, staff, faculty, and programs. Annually, Woodbridge hosts an alumni event to add the newest images to the wall. This year the school honored one of its former principals and the theatre program.
Northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway will remain closed through the weekend as road crews and engineers work to fully assess the extent of the sinkhole and repair the road, according to a news release from National Park Service, which is in charge of the road.

There will be a special election, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors Neabsco District seat. The winner will fill the seat held by former Supervisor John Jenkins, who died on Feb. 6. Democrat Victor S. Angry and Republican Devinder Singh are running to replace Jenkins. The chosen candidate will serve out the remainder of the current term, which ends Dec. 31 of this year.

Prince William County Office of Tourism has received a $10,000 grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) “50 Years of Love” program marketing fund. “50 Years of Love” is part of VTC’s efforts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Virginia is for Lovers tourism slogan, which was created in 1969 by Richmond-based advertising agency Martin & Woltz.

Price William County Police Detectives have identified the man and woman involved in the murder/suicide incident that occurred at a residence on Marjon Ct. in Dumfries on March 20.
