On October 25, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit obtained additional information that led to the identity of the suspect sought in connection to the shooting incident that was reported to have occurred in the 12800 block of Island House Lp. in Woodbridge (22192) on October 17.

Arlington Memorial Bridge closing postponed to Nov. 15-19

The National Park Service (NPS) has postponed the previously announced weekend closing of Arlington Memorial Bridge. The closing is now scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18.

First processing facility for industrial hemp opens in Virginia

In the first economic development announcement for Virginia’s industrial hemp industry. Gov. Ralph Northam announced Oct. 31 that the first commercial industrial hemp fiber processing facility in Virginia will locate in Wythe County. Vitality Farms, LLC, operating as Appalachian Biomass Processing, will invest $894,000, create 13 new jobs, and plans to purchase more than 6,000 tons of Virginia-grown industrial hemp over the next three years, at a value of more than $1 million.
