This Saturday, Sept. 12, is the date for the 11th Annual Occoquan River Cleanup sponsored by the Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition. The cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will range along the length of the Occoquan River from Cedar Run/Broad Run, through Lake Jackson, and from the base of the Lake Jackson Dam to Hooes Run and the Town of Occoquan.

Police give first aid after finding boy, 14, suffering from gunshot injury

September 5 at 2:06AM, officers responded to the area of Brockenbrough Dr. near McDowell Ct. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shots fired call. Residents reported to police that gunshots were heard in the above area. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 14-year-old male juvenile, suffering from a gunshot injury. Officers rendered aid to the victim before he was transported to an area hospital with significant injuries.

Triangle man charged with attempted rape of Woodbridge woman

On September 6 at 3:52PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2200 block of Henry Watts Lp. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 44-year-old woman, reported to police that she was inside the residence when an acquaintance, identified as the accused, followed her into a room where he prevented her from leaving. During the encounter, the accused attempted to rape the victim.
