Virginia State Police have fielded 2,200+ calls for service within the past 12 hours. There was one fatality at US 15 and US 50. Two state troopers were injured.
Today, Monday, Feb. 16, Virginia Department of Transportation crews are aggressively pre-treating roads throughout Prince William, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Arlington counties in advance of tonight’s heavy snow. By 4 p.m. more than 3,800 trucks will be staged along interstates, major roads and neighborhood streets, according to a news release from VDOT. Motorists urged to stay off roads while crews work, the release said.
On February 16, 2015, the City of Manassas is declaring a Snow Emergency effective at 12 a.m. (midnight) tonight. This means that cars parked along designated snow emergency routes are subject to towing and fines.
