Summer construction projects underway at Prince William County schools

With school out for the summer, crews are already hard at work on projects that will increase Prince William County school size and functions and improve a number of existing facilities in many ways.

Lucasville Road in Manassas will close for repairs June 20

The Virginia Department of Transportation will detour traffic off Lucasville Road in Manassas VA for about five months beginning June 20 to replace a drainage structure that will ease flooding and improve drainage. Traffic will use VA 234 (Dumfries Road, Godwin Drive and Hastings Drive for the duration of the road work.

Slow down, stay alert for VDOT mowing crews

Roadside mowing will be ongoing for about the next 4-5 months and the Virginia Department of Transportation asks the motoring public to please drive slowly and be especially alert in areas where the mowing crews are at work. Most roads will get up to three cycles of mowing over the spring-summer-fall, according to a VDOT news release.

“Plant More Plants” campaign renews emphasis on bayscaping

Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is pushing the Plant More Plants campaign to help improve the Chesapeake Bay. The campaign encourages residents to help protect the Chesapeake Bay while having fun, improving their yards and reducing polluted runoff.
