With school out for the summer, crews are already hard at work on projects that will increase Prince William County school size and functions and improve a number of existing facilities in many ways.

Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) will hold an Open House followed by a Public Hearing and an official NVTA meeting on June 20, 2013 at the Council Chambers at City Hall in the City of Fairfax, 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax, VA to gather public input and share information on a proposed list of projects to be funded with the new revenues.

Prince William County's Neighborhood Services Division reminds residents that it is illegal under state law to place signs in the right-of-way of all public roads. County and VDOT crews will remove illegally placed signs, a news release said.

A historic house for rent near Manassas VA could grab the attention of any history buff. The house at Bloom Hill Farm, with origins in the late 1700s, and a little over an acre are available for lease. According to information from the RELIC Room at Bull Run Library in Manassas, Bloom Hill was part of the land holdings of Rutt Johnson, an immigrant farmer from New Jersey who purchased approximately 100 acres in 1770 from Patrick Hamrick.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will detour traffic off Lucasville Road in Manassas VA for about five months beginning June 20 to replace a drainage structure that will ease flooding and improve drainage. Traffic will use VA 234 (Dumfries Road, Godwin Drive and Hastings Drive for the duration of the road work.

Roadside mowing will be ongoing for about the next 4-5 months and the Virginia Department of Transportation asks the motoring public to please drive slowly and be especially alert in areas where the mowing crews are at work. Most roads will get up to three cycles of mowing over the spring-summer-fall, according to a VDOT news release.
