Homicide victim found April 29 near Cotton Mill Rd. in Lake Ridge identified

On May 6, detectives from the Homicide Unit received confirmation that the victim located on April 29 near a drainage ditch in the area of Cotton Mill Rd and Griffin Ave in Woodbridge was Lizeth Yadira LOPEZ. Detectives are currently working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to investigate the results of the autopsy

Suspicious event in Manassas prompts city police to ask for public’s help

Manassas police are seeking information about an April 28 incident that occurred around 2:15 p.m. in the 9700 block of Main Street when a girl, 9, was approached outside her apartment building by a white male in his 20s. After a brief exchange, the male left in a van, police said.

Living Well with Diabetes class series starts April 28, sponsored by Va. Cooperative Extension

In a series of four 2-hour classes starting April 28, participants can learn strategic ways to manage Type 2 diabetes. The program includes nutrition education, medication guidance and counseling on self-management. A Registered Dietitian, a Registered Nurse and retired Medical Doctor lead the program offered through Virginia Cooperative Extension.
