PWC Police Crime Report for Wednesday, March 27, 2024: Two charged with strangulation

PWC Police investigate two incidents March 26 that resulted in strangulation charges.

Many firefighters dispatched to fight 39 outside and brush fires since noon today, March 20

Matt Smolsky, Assistant Chief, reported at 6 p.m. Tuesday, "It’s been a very busy afternoon. Earlier today, the National Weather Service issued a “red flag” warning for the entire region up until 8:00 PM.

I-66 westbound lanes to close in Rosslyn at 10 p.m. March 12

Traffic adjustments will occur off and on until sometimes in 2025 as part of the Rosslyn Tunnel rehab project.

March 4 bank robbery suspect flees without any money

Prince William County Police said the suspect in the March 5 bank robbery had one of his hands in a bag where part of what was believed to be a firearm was observed. The suspect fled the bank on foot without taking money. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

Electrical fire displaces four residents from Michigan Rd. house in Woodbridge

Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the 15000 block of Michigan Road in Woodbridge at 8:59 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 for a reported house fire.

Townhouse fire in Dumfries ignited by burning candle

One adult occupant was at home and safely evacuated after discovering the fire. No injuries were reported. The structure sustained moderate damage. The American Red Cross assisted the 2 adults and 3 children displaced by Building Official’s determination the townhouse was unsafe to occupy. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was ignited by a burning candle near combustibles.

Committee of 100 program on human trafficking this Thursday, Jan. 18

Committee of 100 will host a dinner, program and discussion of human trafficking in our area on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Montclair Country Club in eastern Prince William.

Local neighbors still hungry: OmniRide food drive Jan. 16-19

OmniRide will hold an Extended Season of Giving Food Drive next Tuesday-Friday Jan. 16-19 to be a good partner in service to the community. The food drive will help to replenish shelves at local food pantries – at ACTS on the east end of the county in Dumfries, and at SERVE is in Manassas.

Coalition to Protect Prince William County sets Jan. 12 press conference on legal issues

The Coalition to Protect Prince William County, with American Battlefield Trust and other plaintiffs, reports that it will be holding a press conference at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 to discuss their legal action on the Digital Gateway Project as a follow up to the December 11, 2023 press conference.
