VDOT Crews continue to work treating icy spots, but roads are generally clear. Please assume that anything that looks wet is icy. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing into Monday, causing continued icy conditions. Be extra careful on bridges, ramps, overpasses, and elevated surfaces.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors has been invited to attend an event hosted by Northern Virginia Community College on Thursday, Feb. 3 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Workforce Development Center (2645 College Drive) in Woodbridge, with Angela Harrelson and Paris Stevens, the aunt and cousin of George Floyd. Scholarships especially earmarked for Unity Reed High School students

The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia notes it is managing applications for several scholarships designated specifically for Unity Reed High School students in Manassas. For two of the scholarships the application deadline is Feb. 7, so hurry. For two other scholarships, the application deadline is later.

Jacquemin Family Foundation makes $1 million pledge to support Hylton Center

John Jacquemin and his wife, Tracie Jacquemin, have made a $1 million five-year pledge from the Jacquemin Family Foundation to support the Hylton Performing Arts Center’s building fund and the center’s permanent endowment in Prince William County.

Attorney General Jason Miyares has announced his legislative priorities and goals for the 2022 General Assembly session. Included are making Virginia Parole Board member votes public records and subject to the Freedom of Information Act, Reversing legislation that banned mandatory reporting of sexual assaults at school and other crimes to law enforcement and Human Trafficking Training for Law-Enforcement Personnel.

Health Alerts for Vaccines, Testing and Hypothermia

Hypothermia is caused by prolonged exposures to very cold temperatures. When exposed to cold temperatures, your body begins to lose heat faster than it’s produced. Body temperature that is too low affects the brain, making the person unable to think clearly or move well. This makes hypothermia especially dangerous.
