Passenger identified in this morning’s fatal crash in Gainesville

Investigators from the Prince William County Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit have identified the passenger killed in this morning’s fatal crash in Gainesville as Jose Nelvin ROMERO MALDONADO, 38, of Warrenton. The front seat passenger was identified as a 30-year-old man of Warrenton.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On February 12 at 2:42AM, investigators from the Prince William County Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of James Madison Hwy and Thoroughfare Rd in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a single vehicle crash, according to Sgt. Crossing Guard Appreciation Day Feb. 14 across Virginia

The Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) has designated Wednesday, Feb. 14, as Crossing Guard Appreciation Day in Prince William County. This is a statewide observance sponsored by the Virginia Department of Transportation’s “Safe Routes to School” program, and a way of saying "thank you" to those who help students cross the street or streets safely on their way to and from school.

Kate Arnold, student representative to the PWCS School Board, has scheduled town hall meetings to solicit opinions on school matters from students. Students wishing to speak will be asked to sign in at the beginning of the meeting. Speakers will have three minutes to speak. The first town hall is Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. at Battlefield High School.
