Detectives from the Prince William County Police Department's Homicide Unit confirmed the identities of both victims who were killed during the shooting and are actively investigating this incident to determine what led up to the altercation. The investigation continues.

An unidentified suspect, age 29, is hospitalized after Prince William County police officers return fire after shooting Nov. 4 in Woodbridge.

Prince William County Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the 14000 block of Smoketown Rd in Woodbridge at approximately 8:34PM on Nov. 5, 2018.

As officers were arriving in the area to which they were dispatched for a shots fired call, a suspect began shooting at them with a rifle, striking a police cruiser multiple times.

When officers arrived on scene, they located two males inside of a vehicle that had driven over a curb into a wooded area. Both victims were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Off. Nathan Probus, police department spokesman on the scene.
