Kashef Majid, who teaches business at University of Mary Washington in Fredersicksburg, was rated one of the 50 best undergraduate professors in 2024 by Poets & Quants, an online publication.
Little wigglers will probably giggle and stay glued to their seats when you take them to see "ZooZoo" at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. Using no dialogue, a talented cast plays mischievous animals and inanimate objects that adopt human characteristics. Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is pushing the Plant More Plants campaign to help improve the Chesapeake Bay. The campaign encourages residents to help protect the Chesapeake Bay while having fun, improving their yards and reducing polluted runoff.

These former business people agree they now are passionate about teaching. These Prince William County VA teachers got a boost from Educate VA, a career switcher program of Virginia's community colleges.
Young writers may enter two competitions sponsored by the Virginia Writers Club. One offers a scholarship. The other offers cash prizes. High school seniors and home-schooled seniors compete for the scholarship, with entries due May 1. MIddle and high school students compete in the Golden Nib contest, with entries due Sept. 3.
With renewed emphasis on buying and eating fresh produce, along comes the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service with a May 15 workshop in Manassas VA that could answer some questions. VCE specialists will cover several topics to address: What does it take to have a profitable greenhouse production of local produce?
Congressman Frank Wolf, whose district includes part of Prince William County-Manassas-Manassas Park area of Virginia, shared his growing concerns about cyber threats from China at a Manassas field hearing of the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission, according to a news release from his Capitol Hill office.
A city of Manassas VA police cruiser struck a townhouse and two vehicles in the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Buckner Road when the police officer lost control of the vehicle enroute to an emergency call on March 23. All parties involved were evaluated at Prince William Hospital and released. The Manassas City fire marshal deemed the house uninhabitable until repairs are made. The townhouse residents were relocated by the American Red Cross. The accident is under investigation.
Art by students in grades K-12 will be on display at Hylton High School in Woodbridge VA on March 24. This will be the 42nd year for the art show.
