Quintin Haynes has been hired as Prince William County's Deputy County Executive for General Government. The Board of County Supervisors concurred with the County Executive’s decision to appoint Haynes, who will begin work June 12, 2023.

Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1), who serves part of the Prince William County area, has been named a conferee on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2013. He was appointed by Rep. John A. Boehner, Speaker of the House. Conferees are selected from the House and Senate and meet to work out the differences between the versions of the legislation passed by each chamber.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold public information meetings, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Ashburn Dec. 18 and Manassas Dec. 19 on the Northern Virginia North-South Corridor of Statewide Significance and Bi-County Parkway.
Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell said he plans to establish a task force to review school safety best practices, needs and funding challenges at all educational levels~ from kindergartens to colleges.

Congressman Gerry Connolly, who represents part of the Prince William County VA area, will hold a telephone town hall on Dec. 17 at 8 p.m.
Christmas Eve service times were incorrect for Centreville Baptist Church in the Christmas church roundup on page 19 of the Dec. 14 Bull Run Observer. Four services were listed in the roundup. Correctly, there is one service at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Prince William County Police and Fairfax County Police are working together in an abduction-armed robbery case that appears to have begun in Fairfax and ended in Prince William.

Governor Glenn Youngkin ordered that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of the 16th Anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting. Some 32 people were killed in this incident.
Pat Conroy, who served four consecutive two-year terms as mayor of Occoquan, from July 1998 through June 2006, recently passed away in Florida.
As the defender of Prince William County’s natural places, green spaces, and especially the rural crescent, her legacy lives on through all of us. Her deep understanding of smart growth made it possible to elevate protecting special places, connecting people to nature, according to a statement from PWCA.
