Key pieces of Governor Terry McAuliffe’s 2015 “New Virginia Economy” legislative agenda were among the nearly 800 pieces of legislation that took effect July 1. This year the McAuliffe administration passed 150 bills, amounting to a 70% success rate, according to the governor's office.

Centreville Baptist Church is into its second year of reaching out to immigrant families who need academic help through its Learning Support Ministry. Daniel Park, a pastor and Director of Ethnic Ministry, initiated the special ministry after realizing that people are coming to the United States for education for themselves or their children.
Beginning July 1, 2015, admission to the Manassas Museum is free. The Manassas Historic Resources Board, which oversees the Museum’s operations, originated the idea in an effort to allow residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy history for free. City Council approved the measure as well.
All students entering sixth grade must present proof that they have received the Tdap vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis before starting school this year. Virginia rules changed in 2014. Now, all sixth-grade students are included. There is no exemption for those under 11 years of age.
VA Rte. 28 (Nokesville Road) between Bristow Village Boulevard and Battalion Square will again be closed in both directions Friday and Sunday nights so that crews can continue storm sewer line work, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution, co-sponsored by U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), designating June as National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. The resolution also designates June 27 as National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day.

The "Building for America's Bravest" team of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation will break ground Monday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at 13460 Nokesville Road, Nokesville, on a customized new "smart home" for Retired USMC Cpl. Adam Devine, who was catastrophically injured in Afghanistan.
