PWC Police make arrest in connection with Jan. 9. 2025 shooting.
Through the 2015 Pesticide Disposal Program 62,261 pounds of unwanted pesticides were removed in Virginia localities including Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. Participants included agricultural producers, licensed pesticide dealers and pest control firms, golf course operators and homeowners.

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today, Jan. 4, that Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Havana. The MOU will allow both institutions to work together to develop cooperative programs in a variety of academic disciplines studied at both institutions.
The Montclair Library, which was announced to open on Jan. 11, 2016, has been delayed due to an electrical issue, according to a news release from the Prince William Library System.
State Corporation Commission (SCC) will hold a public hearing in Orange in April on an application by Dominion Virginia Power to build a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between the company’s Remington substation in Fauquier County and the Gordonsville substation in Albemarle County.

Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) has announced the meeting schedule for the Agency’s State Managed Pollinator Protection Plan to give stakeholders an opportunity to provide input on the development of the plan. The closest meeting to Prince William/Manassas is Jan. 26 in Warrenton.
Governor Terry McAuliffe will lead a historic marketing and collaboration mission to Cuba from January 3-6, 2016. The Governor will be accompanied by First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe and a number of state officials.

Prince William County will provide greater access to services and have more emergency shelter space for homeless people beginning in the winter of 2016-17, according to a news release.

A $23,000 grant recently awarded to Prince William County Public Schools will support a program to teach 150-200 students across the county how their local, state, and federal governments work, give them an understanding of how to change public policy, and provide hands-on experience researching and debating current issues in the community.
