Prince William County Community Services department is inviting people to "Relax and Recharge" at its 11th Annual Mental Health Awareness Event on Wednesday, Oct. 12,. The aim of the event is to "educate, inspire and dispel myths about mental illness," said Andrea Richardson, a Prince William County Community Services therapist.

Students and staff at Westridge Elementary School in Lake Ridge have been evacuated from the school as a precaution due to smell of smoke in the building.

A record number of Prince William County Public School students graduated on time in 2016, according to a news release. The new on-time graduation rate of 91.8 percent for students who entered high school in the fall of 2011 and graduated in 2016 continues a steady climb from 83 percent eight years ago, and again outpaces statewide results.

Coles District School Board Member William Deutsch will host a Town Hall meeting on education matters at Benton Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

The presentation will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Woodbridge Middle School, located at 2201 York Drive, Woodbridge.

In light of the current climate in the news and on social media, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join with them to assess the relationship between law enforcement and the people of Prince William County, the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.

Lane closures for milling and paving will continue nightly on portions of Featherstone Road and Blackburn Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3 through Thursday, Oct. 6, and from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
